All Kinds of Lessons

I'm guessing it was our experience with swim lessons, but who really knows... For some reason, Logan has made several funny comments lately about having "lessons." I already wrote about the "Noble Duke of York" lessons that he requested. Here are two other Logan "lesson" stories:

Out of the blue, Logan said, "Mom, gum is healthy for your body."

I replied with, "Well, if it's sugar-free, then it's good for your teeth, but it's not really good for your body. You're not supposed to swallow it."

Logan: "I'm not really good at not swallowing it."

Me: "I know."

Logan: "Do you think I could have "take the gum out and put it in the trash" lessons?

-------------------

Last night I was lying beside Logan in his bed for a couple of minutes. He reminded me that he has a bit of a runny nose and a cough, but that his ear doesn't hurt anymore. I told him that he probably got the cough and runny nose from me and Lexi because we were sick last week and had bad germs. He said, "Mom, you got to cough in your elbow, like this. Are you not good at coughing in your elbow? Do you need to take coughing lessons?"

Playing Out Real Life

Sometimes Logan starts reinacting our lives with his toys, and it is HILARIOUS! Yesterday we were playing pirates (thanks again, Kaysha, for all the Lego and Fisher Price pirates). Here's an example of our play:

One pirate was telling another to eat his noodles. I played the part of that pirate (aka Logan in real life).
Me: "But I don't want to neat (eat) them. I don't like them."

Logan: "But you need to eat them. They're healthy for you. Or else you can go to your room. "

Me: "NO!"

Logan: "you need to go to your room. When you're done crying, then we can talk. "

Me: "ok. I'm done crying."

Logan: "Do you know why you're in timeout? Because you said "No." You need to eat you noodles. They're healthy for you.

Me: "I guess I could try them. "

Logan: " Just one bite and if you don't like them, I'll get you something else. "

...

We've had similar real life reinactments of swim lessons that are also funny. Besides providing the laughs, it's also kind of neat to see that Logan's really listening.

Class Clown in Training? I Sure Hope Not

On Mon night we sang Follow th Prophet for FHE. I know they've sung it a time or two since Logan has been in Primary. But, Logan wasn't a big contributor this time. It was more of a mom and dad duet. Later in the evening, however, a friend of mine stopped by. While we were visiting, Logan came by singing,"Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet, he doesnt know the way." What?!? Isn't he a bit young for that? I tried to correct him but he continued to sing it wrong. Hmmmmm.... I sure hope he's not training to be a class clown someday.

Singing lessons?

This morning I was complementing Logan on his rendition of the theme song from Jake and the Neverland Pirates. He responded with, "But I'm not good at [singing] The Noble Duke of York. Mom, will you sign me up for Noble Duke of York lessons?"

Discovering Her Tongue

Lexi is really discovering her tongue lately. She loves to stick out her tongue and move it around. It's pretty funny. She's a bit blurry in the picture because she moved right as I took it, but it's the only picture I've gotten of this silly habit.

San Diego Was All About Animals

We spent fall break (mid Oct) in San Diego and had a wonderful time. We decided to make it a Logan-centered vacation, so it was all about animals. We got a pass that allowed us to go to the zoo, SeaWorld, and the Wild Animal Park. We did all three and then spent the last two days with my sister and her family. So much fun!

The weather in San Diego was pretty mild, even a little chilly (low 60's and drizzle) while we were there, but the day that we headed more inland to the Wild Animal Park, it was quite warm. Logan LOVED the splash pad area and got absolutely drenched. Too bad we hadn't dressed him in his swimsuit.

Garrick and kiddos at the entrance to the Wild Animal Park. I think it's actually called Safari Park or something else now.

We saw this playground as we drove by Balboa Park, and we had to stop because it had a couple of dinosaur features.

Scary t-rexes...
Lexi and mom on the zoo bus...
Logan with cousins at SeaWorld. The rest of the cousins were in school that day. :(

Lexi loved the animals, too.
The whole group at SeaWorld...

We were VERY impressed with the San Diego zoo. It was beautiful, and we saw lots of neat animals. Here are a few of the many pictures that we took.

We spent so much time at the zoo that day that Logan was EXHAUSTED by the end. He looked like this as we got into the car and was asleep before we left the parking lot. :)

Catching Up...Logan's 3rd Birthday

Ok, so we went on Thanksgiving break, and I didn't finish my gratitude challenge. Let's just say that I'm grateful for the many, many, many blessings in my life. I realized I haven't posted pictures of quite a few things, so here's some catching up...

Logan had a great birthday. He was WAY into dinosaurs, so I made him a dinosaur cake. I'm thinking that will be my third and last attempt at cake decorating. It just takes too much time, and I don't really think Logan cares. We'll see how things pan out next year.

Logan somehow knows to pull out the candles and lick the frosting off of them. I think he likes that more than the actual eating of the cake.

We spent the morning at the children's museum with Logan's best buddy. They live about a half hour away, but his mom and I play volleyball together, so they get to see each other once or twice a week. Logan is always so excited. Logan's friend gave him the jet from Cars2, and Logan LOVES it!
